Stage Pressure
how do we calculate inter stage pressure of a doble acting 2 stage compressor?
Gas is atmospheric air
intercooling is provided
By trial and error. You assume an interstage pressure and then calculate the capacity of each stage. When they match you have the interstage pressure. Usually if you start with a ratio equal to the square root of two you will get close. Then just calculate one pressure higher and another lower. Plot interstage pressure against capacity for each cylinder and where the two graphs cross is the answer.
Of course as redbeard points out, you have to allow for any interstage cooling, compressibility, and interstage pressure drop.
