Steel Clad

Our new roof is leaking?
hi,
we recently had a new roof placed on our existing flat roof, the roofers did the job and neglected to mention that we had a faulty roof structure but they did the job anyway, they used colourbond steel clad roofing with common sisalation, flashing and accessories to make watertight – this is from the invoice we have – they pinched the lighting wires when screwing down the roof thus we had no lighting for 3 days and we had to get an electrician in (do we pay this or do the roofers???) to rewire our lighting, following this we had a severe storm and we had a leaking roof in the living area and our bedroom the ceiling is damaged and smells, the roofer has said that it was not his fault though did place some packing under the section that had a pool of water on it, they had cut our austar cable and there are cracks appearing in the ceiling, what i want to know is are they liable for the damage they have caused???? Please help
Yes they are liable, you should try to work it out with the contractor first. If he is unwilling to work with you, you need to hire a lawyer.
You also might want to file a complaint with your states regulatory agency that licenses contractors if your state has one. You might be able to get his bond if he is required to have one. In most states contractors must have insurance as well.
Again best to contact a lawyer.
